Pediatrics/Medical Genetics Combined Residency

Our program is an integrated and progressive educational experience that provides the formal instruction and clinical training necessary to develop an academic career in medical genetics.

From diagnosis to management, and from rare diseases to common hereditary conditions, medical genetics and genomics is changing how we practice medicine and increasingly guiding our day-to-day healthcare decisions. We now have the ability to treat and even cure certain rare disorders with gene therapy or targeted medications. We can diagnose extremely rare disorders using exome and genome sequencing, and even describe new, previously unrecognized disorders – ending our patients’ diagnostic odyssey and changing their lives for the better.

Our goal is to provide an outstanding residency experience that will develop future academic medical geneticists and genomics. Our residency provides thorough and comprehensive training in all areas of genetics and genomics to prepare any physician for their future endeavors.

The combined training programs are approved by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) to assure that residents completing combined training are eligible for certification in each of the component specialties.”
