This subspecialty training is designed to offer a comprehensive and advanced educational experience for board certified or board eligible medical geneticists seeking additional expertise to manage children and adult patients with inborn errors of metabolism. Through this immersive experience, trainees develop the expertise to diagnose, treat, and manage complex metabolic disorders, while also gaining the skills necessary to contribute to groundbreaking research and academic advancements in the field.

Furthermore, this training program aims to teach and promote innovative research and seek to advance basic and applied knowledge in the field of medical biochemical genetics. The trainees will also acquire the skills needed to develop innovative, cost-effective approaches in prevention and early detection of diverse metabolic disorders with the ultimate goal of improving the health of all patients with these disorders.

The Medical Biochemical Genetics training program is approved by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) and trainees are eligible for board certification in this subspecialty after completing their training.
